Self employment is basically working for yourself.

  • A sole trader means you have full control of the business
  • A partnership is when 2 or more people set up a business together
  • A co-operative 
  • A limited company
  • Franchise 
There are so many benefits to working for yourself but there are also disadvantages too. You can work from home and choose hours but you don't have a regular income some months might be profitable but others may be dry. You will need to contact HM Revenue and Customs when you start trading, you will need to pay tax.

Sourcing materials - group task.
Personal:
  • Work space - home or studio
  • Business bank account 
  • Bills
  • Tax
  • Running costs
  • Setting up costs - buying materials 
  • Internet facilities 
Subject Specific:
  • Relevant equipment - computer/printing facilities/Robo cutter etc.
  • Photoshop/ Illustrator 
  • Networking 
  • Business cards
  • Boxes, postage stamps, wrapping
  • Mobile phone 
  • Invoices 
  • Camera - for referencing work
  • ACID subscription
  • Travel - car, train, passport, insurance, transportation of work.
How will I get my work out there?
